WEST SACRAMENTO, CA. — Sacramento’s offense never got going on Monday as the Fresno Grizzlies beat the River Cats, 7-0.
It was the seventh time this season that the Cats have been shut out. This one sent Sacramento to 75-62 and it is now 3 1/2 games behind first-place Las Vegas in the PCL’s Pacific South Division
Chris Dominguez smacked his 14th home run of the season in the top of the second inning to get Fresno on the board early. Singles in the third and fourth innings put the Grizzlies up 4-0, and a sacrifice fly to left field scored their fifth run.
River Cats’ lefty Mike Zagurski hit a batter to walk in a run and Angel Pagan — who is on a rehab assignment from the San Francisco Giants — singled in the eighth to knock in Fresno’s seventh and final run.
Jemile Weeks led the Cats as he went 2-for-3 with a walk, while Michael Choice finished 1-for-3 with a double. Michael Taylor, Shane Peterson, and Anthony Aliotti each recorded a hit with Aliotti’s extended his hitting streak to seven games.
