COLFAX Ñ Davis High junior varsity football coach Mike Satre watched his team go up and down the field several times on Friday, only to have drives stalled by a penalty or a mental mistake.
Then, with the score tied and the Blue Devils driving for the win, came the crushing blow. The Falcons picked off a pass in their own territory and took it all the way back for the
decisive TD in a 14-7 DHS loss.
Earlier in the game, an interception by safety Grant Dickerson gave the Devils the ball for their lone scoring drive. Dickerson, also playing quarterback, then found Willie Hawkins on a deep pass to get Davis into the red zone, and Kevin Sorensen took it in from there.
That tied the game at 7-7, as the Blue Devils never led in the frustrating loss. J.C. Navazio and Brew Harwood excelled for the DHS defense.
