Isotopes nip River Cats in extras

WEST SACRAMENTO — Even with Sacramento’s Nate Freiman clubbing his seventh home run of the season, the River Cats lost, 4-3, to Albuquerque in extra innings on Wednesday at Raley Field.

After falling behind 1-0 in the first, the Cats (32-21) scored three times in the bottom of the inning as Alden Carrithers tripled, Andy Parrino doubled and Freiman followed with a home run.

The Isotopes (24-28) battled back and eventually got even on a solo homer by Treyvon Robinson in the eighth. Robinson then doubled home the winning run in the top of the 10th.

In the loss, Freiman went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, while Parrino was 2-for-5.

Sacramento and Albuquerque are back on Raley Field on Thursday at 7:05 p.m.
