It’s win or go home for Devil on Friday

If the Davis High football team can continue its pattern of following each of its 2012 losses up with a victory, the Blue Devils will be playing a Sac-Joaquin Section postseason game next week.

After losing at Grant last Friday, the Blue Devils are 5-4 overall and 2-2 in Delta Valley Conference play heading into Friday’s Senior Night contest at Ron & Mary Brown Stadium.

Section officials say a win puts DHS in the playoffs but an entire Thundering Herd is between the Devils and their first postseason berth since 2007.

Elk Grove is 8-1, including 3-1 in DVC play, and one of the top teams in the area. Davis goes for the upset at 7:15 p.m.

Notes: Blue Devil quarterback Grant Dickerson is two touchdown passes from the school record. … Volunteers will be on hand Friday during the JV and varsity games to take donations of supplies for the St. John’s Shelter for Women and Children in Sacramento. Diapers and pull-ups (sizes 1-6), baby wipes and all types of baby formula are needed.
