With the Davis High baseball team waiting in the wings, eight Sac-Joaquin Section playoff teams played single-elimination out-bracket games on Monday night, including two Delta Valley Conference squads.

The most important outcome to the Blue Devils came when Jesuit defeated Granite Bay, 11-5. The Marauders advanced to face DHS in a first-round contest at Sacramento City College on Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Devils won’t be the only DVC team in the field — which is down to eight schools — as Elk Grove and Franklin each posted wins on Monday. The Thundering Herd played Vintage at home and knocked the Crushers out of the tournament with a 9-6 win. The Wildcats traveled to Rodriguez and pounded the second-place team from the Monticello Empire League, 13-0.

In the fourth out-bracket game Monday, Pleasant Grove edged Rocklin, 2-1.

The section first-round contests begin Wednesday at Sac City with Elk Grove facing Woodcreek (4 p.m.) and Oak Ridge taking on Franklin (7 p.m.). Before Davis and Jesuit lock horns on Thursday, Pleasant Grove will match up with Vacaville.
