With a winning season hanging in the balance, the Davis High Junior Varsity football team roughed up Monterey Trail en route to a 26-12 win Friday night that secured a 5-4-1 final record in 2010.

“We won kind of ugly, but the game was never in doubt,” said coach Mike Satre after the Blue Devils committed 13 penalties for 110 yards. “We were in control. Every guy got in the game.”

Kevin Sorensen, Willie Hawkins and Adam King shredded up the field for a combined 177 rushing yards, and Bray Harwood added four tackles, a sack and a forced fumble for the DHS defense.

The Devils wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Hawkins slipped the opening kickoff right up the heart of the Mustangs\’ coverage team for a 78-yard touchdown.

Hawkins scored a second time on a 3-yard run, Adam Inouye a 26-yard touchdown pass from Hayden Duer, and Sorensen ripped off a 63-yard touchdown run in the second half for DHS.
