The Davis High junior varsity football team didnÕt lose to Elk Grove on Friday, and it didnÕt fall under .500 for the season. But the Blue Devils were far from joyful after the final 7-7 tie.
ÒWe shoot ourselves in the foot under pressure,Ó DHS coach Mike Satre said. ÒWe should have won.Ó
Despite 101 rushing yards on 20 carries by Kevin Sorensen and a relentless defensive showing, the Devils were unable to score after a one-yard touchdown run with 1:26 left in the first quarter.
A muffed punt, a failed fake punt, and a red zone interception prevented Davis (4-4-1) from smacking the Thundering Herd with a the knockout punch.
Elk Grove tied the game with a touchdown run at the start of the fourth period.
