A recent six-match winning streak — during which it has allowed just one opposing goal — has kept the Davis High junior varsity soccer team undefeated for the season at 9-0-3, including 7-0-1 against Delta League opponents.
The Blue Devil winning streak began Sept. 22 with a 4-0 win over Sheldon, then continued two days later when a first-half goal from Danny Castro made Kyle Cuvelier’s late tally a game-winner in a 2-1 decision against Franklin.
Next up was rival Jesuit, who fell to DHS, 5-0, with Castro and Aedan Enriquez each scoring twice and Diego Tomayo adding a key tally.
Early last week, Pleasant Grove went down 5-0 with the Eagles adding two goals to add to a Devil lead created by Cuvelier, Sebastian Alvarado and Kieran Swenson, who scored a diving header off a Cuvelier corner kick.
Davis then capped that week by crushing Grant, 7-0. That contest featured Castro and Mads Barsoe each scoring twice, and single goals from Swenson, Cuvelier and Eliot Williams. Elijah Alba added a key tally in Monday’s 5-0 win over Sheldon.
The Blue Devils will get to play on a professional field on Saturday as their rematch with Jesuit precedes the varsity game at Bonney Field at Cal Expo in Sacramento. The JV match is set for 5 p.m.

The Blue Devils pushed their record to 13-1 on the season by earning second place at last weekend’s Crusher Classic, then taking down Tokay, 16-0 on Tuesday.
At the tournament, DHS opened with a 12-2 win over Menlo, defeated Clayton, 16-1 and topped Foothill, 12-0, to reach the semifinals.
Another 12-0 victory over Foothill in the semis featured a hat trick from Alena Alvarez and two goals each from Tori Van Court and Angelica Tujo. Emily Tapio, Mia Motekaitis, Annie Fullerton and Clare Mullin added one tally apiece while goalie Sara Valdes-Chabot made six saves and Tapio contributed six steals.
In the finals, Alyssa Lengtat scored two goals and Tapio had one but the Devils fell to Miramonte, 5-3.
On Tuesday, scoring came from up and down the roster as Sophia Dolan, Tapio and Lengtat found the net three times each, Haiku Cavanaugh and Van Court tallied two time apiece and Fullerton, Tujo and Motekaitis had single goals.
Valdes-Chabot added four blocks for the locals, who led 10-0 at halftime.

The Blue Devils continued their strong season last weekend by going 3-1 to finish second at the 10-team Jesuit Invitational.
Opening up against Bella Vista, DHS used a balanced scoring attack to post a 9-3 victory. Starting quickly, the Devils got a hat trick from freshman Tazio Rosenberg, a goal and an assist from freshman Jake Taylor and a single goal from sophomore Jack Liu to take a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. A block by sophomore goalie Lucas Brown also was key in the onslaught.
Brown ended the contest with 11 blocks, while Taylor finished with two goals, four assists and four steals. In addition, sophomore Nate Burmas tallied twice for Davis and freshman Sam Ault added a single goal.
Next up was a physical matchup against Lodi that saw the Blue Devils come from three goals behind to grab an 11-8 victory.
Brown had another 11 saves in that victory, and Taylor exploded for five goals and two assists, Burmas had two tallies and single scores came from Liu, freshman Mack Fee, freshman Ethan Tran and Rosenberg, who added three steals.
Six more goals from Taylor — plus three steals — then led the locals past Granite Bay, 11-4, and set up a championship matchup with Rocklin.
There, DHS quickly fell behind early then played even the rest of the way in a close, 11-8 loss. Liu and Burmas each posted hat tricks in defeat, while Brown stopped eight Rocklin shots.
The Devils have had several other shining moments in the season’s first month including a 16-0 win over Vintage, a third-place finish at the Modesto Stanislaus Frosh-Soph Tournament and an 11-1 victory over Granite Bay in late September.
In addition to the players already mentioned, many others, including sophomore Stefan Kaloper, have made strong contributions.
