Late rally lifts Las Vegas over Cats

By From page B1 | April 18, 2013

The Sacramento River Cats took a two-run lead into the bottom of the seventh inning on Wednesday, but Las Vegas would score three runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth, to win a 3-2 contest at Cashman Field.

Cats starter Justin Thomas held the 51s scoreless through six innings of work. After giving up a run in the seventh, Thomas was pulled in favor of reliever James Simmons with two men on, and one of the runners came around to score, tying the game at 2-2.

Then, in the bottom of the ninth inning, Las Vegas’ Omar Quintanilla singled home Eric Campbell for a walk-off win.

Sacramento catcher Luke Montz paced the team offensively, going 2-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run — his second of the season.
