MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Sacramento River Cats mustered just one run on seven hits in Game 2 of their series against the Redbirds in Memphis, ultimately losing, 7-1, on Thursday night at AutoZone Park.

Neither team scored until the bottom of the fourth inning when Memphis (72-60) tallied three times to take control of the contest.

The Cats (74-59) responded in the top of the fifth, scoring their only run of the game when Jose Martinez singled home Nick Buss.

Martinez finished 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Buss reached base twice and picked up his 12th steal of the season. Tyler Ladendorf was 2-for-4 for Sacramento, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Drew Pomeranz from suffering his first loss at the Triple-A level.

River Cats righty Arnold Leon (10-6, 5.27 ERA) will start opposite Redbirds southpaw Tim Cooney (12-6, 3.66 ERA) when the two team continue the series Thursday at 5:05 p.m.
