Davis’ Sangho Byun was so excited for his first New York City Marathon that he isn’t going to let a little thing like the event’s cancellation slow him down.
While in Denver on Friday, on his way to the Big Apple, Byun found out that the marathon had been canceled due to the devastation from Hurricane Sandy. He turned around and came back to Davis, but decided that the show must go on.
Byun will run a marathon on Sunday, but he will do it on the Davis bike loop, alongside some of his local pals, who will run or bike beside him.
For those interested in joining in the fun, the Davis runner released his route to The Enterprise:
Byun will leave his house at K Street and Russell Boulevard at 7 a.m., with plans to keep a nine-minute mile pace. That will put him at Sycamore Park at 7:30 a.m.; Little Park in Village Homes about 7:45 a.m.; Trader Joe’s about 7:55 a.m.; Whole Foods about 8:15 a.m.; Explorit Science Center about 8:45 a.m.; Alder Place about 8:55 a.m. and Holmes Junior High at 9 a.m., before doing a second loop.
