Renewing a rivalry that started on various pitches around Davis in the mid-2000, Jalil Anibaba and Adam Jahn will meet again this weekend, this time on American soccer’s largest stage.
On Saturday at Harder Stadium in Santa Barbara, Anibaba’s Chicago Fire will take on the San Jose in a MLS preseason friendly at 6 p.m.
After being drafted out of Stanford in last month’s supplemental draft, Jahn is attempting to catch on with the Earthquakes, who won the Supporter’s Shield as the MLS team with the best regular season record in 2012.
Anibaba, who starred for Davis High before graduating in 2007, and Jahn, who grew up in El Macero but prepped at Jesuit, each played club soccer for Davis Legacy. Anibaba was the 2006-07 Gatorade California Soccer Player of the Year, with Jahn capturing the award for the next two school years.
Saturday’s match can be streamed live on www.chicago-fire.com.
