Local U14 teams deadlock in DYSA thriller
In under-14 competition, the Davis Youth Softball Association Enforcers and Dynamite tied 6-6 this week.
Enforcer Neia Wixson was 2-for-4 (two great bunts) and Sara Wixson’s double accounted for two, sixth-inning RBI.
Madison Lowrie’s sacrifice brought in Sara Wixson with the tying run while Sarah Taylor added a double and single and two RBI. Haleigh Holgate had two hits.
Jordan Vermette and Neia Wixson shared the pitching duties, Holgate was strong defensively, as were the Wixson sisters and Vermette.
Kayla Gibson and Rachael DeMarco pitched for the Dynamite as Zoey Johnson, Liz Kim and Brittany Joseph were all strong at the plate. Kim’s triple drove in two runs.
Gibson and Adrianna Carpenter played strong at second.
Enforcers 19, Dixon 2 — Neia Wixson was 2-for-3, including a steal of home and McKenna Miller went 2-for-3 in the win.
Mikaela Hiatt pitched three innings and Abby DeVarennes, Jordan Vermette, Sara Wixson and Renee Schuman all contributed at the plate.
Neia Wixson ended the game with an unassisted double play.
