Petaluma powers past DALL at section tourney

MILL VALLEY — The Davis American 10-11 All-Stars ran into a potent Petaluma National team on Friday night, losing 11-1 at Strawberry Field.

“(Petaluma) pitched well and played good defense,” local coach Jessie Catacutan said after the Little League Section 1 tournament setback. “In addition, our defense and pitching were a bit rusty after not having played for 10 days.”

Petaluma had last played Tuesday in their District 35 championship game.

Jack Walsh’s double drove in Iain Smith with Davis’ only run. With one out, Josh Catacutan also singled, but Walsh and he died on the base paths as Petaluma cruised after that.

DALL plays Sunday at 11 a.m. in an elimination game.
