Despite Shane Peterson connecting twice for his third straight multi-hit game, the Sacramento River Cats fell, 8-7, to the Albuquerque Isotopes on Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M. The Pacific Coast League All-Star was 2-for-4 with a run, two RBI and a double.

Trailing 4-1, the River Cats scored three times in the top of the fourth on an RBI double by Peterson, a sacrifice fly from Josh Whitaker, and a wild pitch by ‘Topes starter Red Patterson.

Albuquerque then built a 7-3 advantage only to watch Sacramento knot the contest with a four-run seventh. The highlight of the inning was Daric Barton’s solo home run to right field.

However, Isotope slugger Carlos Triunfel followed suit with a solo blast in the bottom of the eighth, creating the final margin of the game.

River Cat Luis Exposito went 2-for-4, while Barton finished 1-for-3 with a run, an RBI and his third homer of the season. River Cat starter Tommy Milone took a no-decision, giving up eight hits, seven runs — six earned — and four walks with three strikeouts in five innings of work.

The River Cats return to Raley Field on July 29 when the team opens an eight-game home stand.
