FRESNO — Five River Cats got two hits apiece on Monday as Sacramento went to Fresno and defeated the Grizzlies, 6-4, at Chukchansi Park.

After Fresno (44-48) took a 4-3 advantage in the bottom of the sixth, the Cats (53-38) quickly responded to take the lead for good in the top of the seventh inning.

In the decisive frame, Jake Elmore and Andy Parrino each hit RBI singles for Sacramento.

Elmore then scored an insurance run in the top of the ninth — knocked in by Shane Peterson — allowing Evan Scribner to cruise to his team-leading 13th save by pitching a scoreless finale frame.

The River Cats and Grizzlies will play Game 2 of the series on Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
