Shane Peterson’s two-out, bases-loaded single up the middle provided the game-winning run Tuesday as the Sacramento River Cats edged the Chihuahuas 3-2 in 12 innings in El Paso.
Sacramento relief pitcher Seth Frankoff retired the Chihuahuas in order to earn the save.
El Paso got on the board first with three singles in the bottom half of the opening frame.
The River Cats evened the score, 1-1, in the third. Anthony Aliotti doubled to right field and took third on a ground out. A single to right field plated Aliotti, who was 2 for 5 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Both squads scored one run each in the ninth inning to force extra play.
In the top of the ninth, Sacramento’s Nick Buss doubled to start the inning. Jose Martinez doubled to switch places with Buss.
