WEST SACRAMENTO — Sacramento had just five hits for the night against Colorado, but three of them were home runs — including a walk-off by Josh Donaldson — as the River Cats edged the Sky Sox 4-3 Monday at Raley Field.
First baseman Anthony Recker for two for two with two homers to lead Sacramento, and teammate Josh Donaldson was one for four with the game-winning shot. The walk-off blast, Donaldson’s 15th homer of the season, was the River Cats’ third walk-off home run since July 17.
Leading 3-2 in the ninth, Colorado brought in relief pitcher Eric Stults, who promptly gave up a single to Sacramento’s Kevin Kouzmanoff. Sacramento brought in speedster Adrian Cardenas for Kouzmanoff. After a fly out by Chris Carter, it was time for Donaldson to come to the plate. He launched a 1-2 pitch over the left-field fence to give the River Cats the win.
First-place Sacramento, which is a season-high 24 games over .500 (67-43), has won 11 of 13 overall and eight of nine at Raley Field.
