For the second time this week, the Davis High boys tennis team cruised to a Delta Valley Conference victory, but couldn’t complete the sweep, winning by an 8-1 margin.
Wednesday’s match was at Elk Grove, and the Blue Devils actually couldn’t have come much closer to a 9-0 win as the only loss, at No. 1 singles, came in three sets.
The other eight matches all went to DHS, with Sean Mishra (at No. 5 singles) and the top doubles team of Sean Maroney and Scott Lucio posting perfect 6-0, 6-0 victories. The other local duos also won easily as Kenneth Chow/Earl Breedon went 6-1, 6-0 and Tris Dutta/Chase Kellison prevailed, 6-2, 6-0.
In singles, Phil Glazer got by the Thundering Herd’s No. 3 6-0, 6-1 and Blue Devil No. 2 Isaac Yee, No. 4 Isaac Zhang and No. 6 Louis Pak each won in straight sets.
Davis plays its first home match of the season Monday, as Franklin visits the Community Park Tennis Complex at 3:45 p.m.
