Sports briefs: Hall fundraiser set for Saturday

By
From page B8 | August 23, 2013 |

A fundraiser for the Davis-based U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame, the Bike and Brew Fest includes food trucks, live music and unlimited samplings of what organizer Brodie Hamilton calls “amazing beers.”

The action starts at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and goes through 8. Tickets are $35 in advance or $45 the day of the event.

A limited number of VIP tickets ($60) include access to the Hall of Fame, 303 Third St., during the event.

The Hall of Fame was re-established in Davis four years ago after a nationwide search for the most bicycle- and tourist-friendly venue in the U.S.

Tickets are available at DavisBeerWeek.com. Bike and Brew Fest has major backing by de Vere’s Irish Pub and Sudwerk.

Little League registration

For the first time, Davis Little League is offering juniors-level competition as part of its fall ball program that also includes opportunities for AA, AAA and majors players.

Friday is the last day to sign-up for the discounted price of $95. From Saturday through Sept. 3, getting into DLL fall ball will cost $125.

There are no farm or T-ball teams.

All registration must be completed online at https://davislittleleague.sportssignup.com. For additional help, call Karen Yoon at 530-756-1463. For questions regarding juniors play, contact Steve Olney at steveo.dll@gmail.com.

Foxy’s Fall Century

Registration is open for the Davis Bike Club’s Foxy’s Fall Century, a ride set for Saturday Oct. 19.

The club is offering a 100-mile endurance ride, a 60-mile “workout” and a 30-mile version — to Winters and back — that will be fun for the whole family.

Snacks, lunch and a post-ride meal are included and riders can sign up at www.davisbikeclub.org.
