Sports briefs: Help DHS field hockey Stick it 2 Cancer

Looking for your Friday Night Lights fix with the Davis High football team on a bye week?

The 10-1-1 Blue Devil field hockey team is inviting fans to come Brown Stadium on Friday night for a game that will help raise money to fight cancer.

With DHS’ biggest Eastern Athletic League rival Chico in town, the contest is a Stick It 2 Cancer event.

The money goes to a good cause and the matchup should be exciting, so the Devils are hoping to set the record for the biggest crowd ever to watch a Davis home field hockey contest.

The JV game starts at 5:30 p.m. with the varsity squads clashing at 7 p.m.

Foxy’s Fall Century

Registration is open for the Davis Bike Club’s Foxy’s Fall Century, a ride set for Saturday, Oct. 19.

The club is offering a 100-mile endurance ride, a 60-mile “workout” and a 30-mile version — to Winters and back — that will be fun for the whole family.

Snacks, lunch and a post-ride meal are included and riders can sign up at www.davisbikeclub.org.
