Sports briefs: Kings sign former Gaucho Johnson

By From page B8 | February 27, 2014

Orlando Johnson, a three-time All-Big West Conference first-teamer for UC Santa Barbara in 2010-12, has signed a 10-day contract with the Sacramento Kings.

Johnson, who torched UC Davis for 39 points in a 2011 game, was recently waived by the Indiana Pacers.

He spent the past two seasons with the Pacers — after originally being drafted in the 2012 second round (36th overall) by Sacramento — averaging 3.3 points in 89 games.

A fumble by staff writer Bruce Gallaudet — and the season hasn’t even started.

In Wednesday’s article “2014 UCD football schedule …” the Aggies’ home opener was incorrectly said to be against Fort Collins. The Sept. 6 home opener is with Fort Lewis of Durango, Colo.

The Enterprise has Gallaudet doing extra up-downs before each practice.

The Division-II Skyhawks were 4-7 overall and went 3-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference last season and the 2014 game will mark the first meeting between the two schools.
