Sports briefs: Last day to register for Junior Blue Devils at cheaper price

By
June 7, 2011 |

For future football stars interested in playing next fall with the Davis Junior Blue Devils, Wednesday is the last day to get the discounted registration fee of $275. After that, the price goes up to $300 but registration will still be available.

In addition to a season of fun on the gridiron, the fee includes pads, helmets and game uniforms as well as free admission to the Junior Blue Devil noncontact camp July 26-28. For athletes who aren’t sure and want to give football a try at the camp, the cost is $50.

The Junior Blue Devils also will have a cheerleading program this fall, and registration fees will include uniform, competition fees and a one-day cheer camp.

For information on both programs, the July football clinic or registration materials, visit http://www.juniorbluedevils.com.

River Cats promotions

The Sacramento River Cats will host several fun events this weekend during their four-game series against the Tacoma Rainers.

On Friday, fans are invited to enjoy the 7:05 p.m. game, then stay after and camp out on the field. Saturday night’s game, which also starts at 7:05 p.m., will be followed by a postgame fireworks show.

Finally on Sunday, the 1:05 p.m. contest is the River Cats’ annual Bark in the Ballpark event, where fans are invited to bring their dogs to the game.

For Friday’s Family Campout, a special ticket package, which costs $39.50 per person, includes a ticket to the game, a voucher for dinner (Raley Field hot dog, chips, soda and dessert), an overnight camping voucher and a voucher for a pancake breakfast the next morning.

Activities for the night include arts and crafts, a movie on Cat Vision and a special appearance from Dinger. Fans should leave their camping gear in their vehicles during the contest, then re-enter following the game to set up on the field (no tent spikes allowed).

On Sunday, fans can enjoy the game with their dog for $19 ($7 per person and $12 per dog). Other fun events that day include the pregame parade and a best dressed dog contest.

For more information and to purchase tickets in advance, visit http://rivercats.com, contact Samantha Bottari at [email protected] or (916) 376-4718 or go to the River Cats Ticket Office.
