Following its second consecutive undefeated Delta Valley Conference schedule, the league champion Davis High boys soccer team had six players named to the All-DVC team, including co-Most Valuable Player Rami Rashmawi.
The senior defender was joined by Blue Devil goalies Jesus Gutierrez and Andres Olmedo, defenders Alex Perez and Alexander Nelson and forward Brian Birt — all seniors — on the all-league squad.
DHS (16-4-3, 9-0-1 DVC) beat Napa, 2-0, in its first Sac-Joaquin Section playoff game on Tuesday, and will face Merced in the quarterfinals on Thursday (3 p.m.) at Yudin Field.

Earning a split of its final two matches — including a key win over Monterey Trail on Thursday — was enough to get the Blue Devils (19-11, 7-3 Delta Valley Conference) a 12th seed in the upcoming Sac-Joaquin Section tournament.
DHS, which advanced to the section quarterfinals last season, will open at No. 5 Oak Ridge on Thursday at 7 p.m. The Trojans were 17-13 overall and 8-2 in the Delta River League.
UCD women’s soccer
Seniors Ashley Edwards (midfielder) and Mary Beth Mazurek (defender) earned first-team honors and were two of five Aggie women soccer players who received All-Big West recognition as released by the conference Wednesday afternoon.
Junior forward Lexi Poppoff was the lone Aggie named to the conference’s second team, sophomore forward Sienna Drizin earned honorable mention and defender Nicole Bouvia earned one of 11 spots on the league’s all-freshman team.
The Aggies’ quintet of all-league recipients is the largest group since UCD joined the Big West Conference, two selections more than the 2011 women’s soccer team that earned the program’s inaugural postseason berth at the Big West Tournament.
