The North Davis Elementary School PTA is looking for players and sponsors for its fourth annual fundraising golf tournament, which is now named the John Henderson Memorial Tournament.
John was a 7-year-old second-grader at North Davis who died in December 2011 after falling off a chair lift at Sugar Bowl.
The tournament is set for Sunday, April 21, at the Yocha Dehe Golf Course at the Cache Creek Casino Resort. Proceeds will benefit the elementary school and its arts program.
The cost of $150 per player covers golf — play begins at 9 a.m. — a buffet lunch at 3 p.m. and a goodie bag.
Organizers will hand out prizes for longest drive, closest to the pin, first- and second-place team, scratch score, mulligan score, Need Lessons (highest score) as well as a 2013 Honda Accord — courtesy of University Honda — for a hole-in-one on No. 7. An accompanying raffle includes prizes such as a 2013-14 season ski pass courtesy of Sugar Bowl.
Sponsorships are available from the $2,500 level all the way down.

UCD basketball camp
Registration is open now for the UC Davis men’s basketball program’s summer youth camp, designed for players ages 4 to 13.
Families can register for the camp, which runs June 17-20, at https://ucdavissportscamps.com/mensbasketball.
The camp is broken down into two age-group levels, each of which will feature instruction from Aggie players and coaches.
The Gold Level, for boys and girls ages 4-7, is a half-day workout from 9 a.m. to noon. Campers will learn basic skills and participate in basketball-related games and activities. The cost is $110 ($95 for additional children in the same family), and kids are encouraged to bring snacks and drinks.
The all-day Blue Level camp runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is “open to any and all boys 8-13 years old and girls are welcome at parent’s discretion,” according to organizers.
This level focuses on skill training to improve the offensive aspect the athlete’s game. Instruction will emphasize fundamentals, including shooting skills, ball-handling, passing, footwork, shot selection, rebounding and proper mental approach. In addition, live competitions will help campers successfully apply the techniques they learn during drills.
The cost for the Blue Level is $230 ($215 for additional children) with lunch included or $210 ($195) for those who bring their own lunch.
