PULLMAN — UC Davis men’s golf standout Tyler Raber, a Davis High graduate, completed his outstanding college career on Saturday with highest postseason finish ever, tying for 23rd at the NCAA Division I Pullman Regional.

Raber, who was in strong contention after three rounds to advance to the NCAA Finals, shot a final-round 4-over 76 at Palouse Ridge Golf Course. The senior from El Macero was 2-under 214 overall after opening the tournament with an impressive round of 67 on Thursday and a 1-under 71 on Friday.

Raber began his final round on the 10th hole and was 2-over after five holes before picking up his lone birdie on the par-4 15th. He was 4-over after eight holes before carding 10 consecutive pars to close the round.

Raber was tied for sixth after three rounds while sitting near the top of the leaderboard for most of the first 36 holes. He finished the tournament with 12 birdies.

UCD baseball

HONOLULU — Hawaii starting pitcher Connor Little tossed a complete game on Friday as the Rainbow Warriors beat UC Davis, 5-2, in the opener of a Big West Conference baseball series at Les Murakami Stadium.

The Aggies (19-32, 5-17) were held in check on nine hits by Little, who had five strikeouts for Hawaii (13-33, 8-14). UCD starter Harry Stanwyck (4-7) suffered the loss, while Patrick Hennessey tossed one inning of scoreless relief.

Left fielder Tino Lipson went 2-for-4 to lead the Aggies, and also scored both of UCD’s runs, coming home on wild pitches in the third and eighth innings.

Youth lacrosse clinic

The Davis Lacrosse Association is putting on a clinic to introduce young athletes to the sport from noon to 2 p.m. on June 2 at Northstar Park.

The clinic is open to boys and girls in grades two through seven and the cost of $25 includes a regulation lacrosse stick and game ball. Players should bring water and wear comfortable clothing.

All participants must pre-register online at www.davislax.org — click on the “Register Online” tab to get started. For more information, contact Dave Ceppos at [email protected]
