The UC Davis women’s tennis team as a whole and five Aggie student-athletes — Melissa Kobayakawa, Tiffany Pham, Samantha Martino, Claire Meunier and Frederique Sleiffer — received all-academic recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

This is the fourth straight season Kobayakawa has earned a spot on the ITA’s annual list, while the governing body of collegiate tennis recognized Pham for the second time in as many years. Martino, Meunier and Sleiffer all met the criteria in their inaugural UCD campaign.

Additionally, the 2013-14 academic year marks the second straight season the Aggies have earned the team honor.

To earn ITA scholar-athlete status, a player must receive a varsity letter, possess a 3.50 minimum GPA for the academic year and be enrolled at their current school for at least two semesters or three quarters.

Team awards are presented to programs that possess a cumulate GPA of 3.20 or above with all eligible student-athletes responsible for competing in one or more varsity matches for the current academic year.

UCD swimming and diving

The Aggie women’s swimming and diving team was recognized for its performance in the classroom, earning an award as one of 151 Scholar All-America Teams named by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.

Team Scholar All-America accolades are presented to college and university swimming and diving teams that have achieved a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, and UCD also was among the 150 schools honored in the fall.

Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.

Youth volleyball camps

The Davis High volleyball program will host six youth camp sessions this summer, where boys and girls who will be in sixth through eighth grades next year can receive instruction from head coach Julie Crawford and Blue Devil players.

Sessions next Monday, Wednesday and Friday will make up an All-Skills Camp, while workouts on July 28 and 30 and Aug. 1 are skill-specific.

All sessions are 4 to 6 p.m. at the The Cage.
