UC Davis senior team co-captain Michelle Ho won her second consecutive Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week award on Tuesday, this time sharing the honor with Air Force junior Jen Larsen, it was announced by the conference office late Tuesday night.

It was the sixth such award in Ho’s career.

The Los Altos native scored two event victories in Friday’s home dual against Cal, posting a 9.925 on the floor and a 9.850 on uneven bars. The floor mark was the highest by an Aggie since Tiffany Chan tied the school record of 9.950 at the 2004 MPSF Championships. Additionally, Ho’s score is the highest on any event by any MPSF gymnast since 2005.

Yolo Post 77

American Legion Post 77 will host its annual crab and prawn feed on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Yolo County Fairgrounds.

The event is designed to provide support for American Legion baseball as well as other youth sports.

The dinner costs $40 and will begin at 7:30 p.m. following a no-host social hour that starts at 6 p.m.

To buy tickets or get more information on the event, including being involved in the fundraising, call the American Legion club room at 530-662-9772 between 1 and 8 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

DHS cheer clinic

Davis High cheerleaders will conduct Cheer Clinic 2013 from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, Jan. 27, at DHS’ South Gym.

Hopefuls ages 6 to 13 are invited to learn cheers, jumps, tumbling and dance from the award-winning Blue Devil cheerleaders and their coaches.

Cost for the session is $40 in advance and $45 at the event. The fee includes a T-shirt, small group instruction by age, snacks and beverages, and a free ticket to the Feb. 1 DHS boys basketball game, which is

Break the Record Night. Clinic participants also will have a chance to perform on the court that night with the Devil cheerleaders.

To learn more and reserve a spot, contact Megan Hupe at 530-753-0424 or meganhupe@gmail.com.

Find more information about the Blue Devil spirit team at www.dhscheer.org.

Football crab feed

Tickets still are available for the annual Davis Blue Devils Football Backers Crab Feed. The event is set for Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Veterans’ Memorial Center, 203 E. 14th St.

Tickets are $45 and may be obtained by contacting Rebecca Foster at oreo2250@yahoo.com or 916-402-1148.

Live and silent auctions highlight the local football program’s big fundraiser, which begins at 6:30 p.m.

The price of admission covers refreshments (including wine and beer for those over 21) and all-you-can-eat crab and pasta. In addition to the auctions, the Backers will have a multi-prized raffle.

Foster says raffle gifts are welcome and can be donated by contacting her. Backers will arrange to pick up the prizes.
