UC Davis’ two-time All Big West Conference fullback Dalton Turay was named to The Sports Network’s 2014 Football Championship Subdivision Preseason All-America third team on Tuesday.

Turay, a 5-foot-10, 220-pound senior from Pleasanton, carried the ball just three times for 12 yards in 2013, but made his presence felt as a punishing blocker. With Turay helping to blast open holes, Aggie tailback Gabe Manzanares ran for 1,285 yards and 10 touchdowns while UCD posted its best rushing attack in more than a decade (152.8 ypg.).

Turay also has been a reliable Aggie receiver, catching 13 passes for 159 yards last year to increase his career reception total to 34.

His career highlights include a three-touchdown quarter in UCD’s first-ever Big Sky win, 37-13 over Weber State in 2012, and a key eight-yard scoring catch in the fourth period of the Aggies’ 23-13 victory over Idaho State last September.

UCD opens preseason practice on Aug. 4 in preparation to start the 2014 campaign on Aug. 30 at Stanford and host Fort Lewis (Colorado) in the Sept. 7 home opener. Season tickets are on sale now at the UC Davis ticket office or at www.ucdavisaggies.com.
