Trojans should take the battle of L.A.

This week’s picks are as follows:

STANFORD over NOTRE DAME … there is no relationship between this Irish team and last year’s 12-0 squad. None. Notre Dame will have trouble scoring against the stout Tree.

USC over UCLA … an intriguing matchup in this year’s L.A. City Championship game. The final head coaching audition for Troy’s savior, “interim” coach Ed Orgeron.

ALABAMA over AUBURN … on paper it looks like a toss-up, but in reality, the Tide is always ready for the Big One.

FLORIDA STATE over FLORIDA … the Gators have never looked so bad.

WASHINGTON over WASHINGTON STATE … the Cougs are so giddy about being bowl eligible they may just forget to show up.

OREGON over OREGON STATE … they’re calling this one the Civil Bore after both teams stumbled badly last weekend.

FRESNO STATE over SAN JOSE STATE … if we had a 16-team playoff, maybe the Bulldogs would get a shot at the national championship. This is like the good old days for the pride of the San Joaquin Valley.

ARIZONA STATE over ARIZONA … the Sun Devils are playing for home field advantage in next weekend’s Pac-12 championship showdown with mighty Stanford.

OHIO STATE over MICHIGAN … won’t even be close.

UPSET OF THE WEEK: Clemson over South Carolina … the Tigers have been gunning for this one since August. (Upset record: 5-8).

ROUT OF THE WEEK: Boise State over New Mexico … Chris Petersen has had far better teams dancing on the Smurf Turf, but the Broncos still have too many horses for the lowly Lobos. (Rout record: 13-0).

DON’T BET ON IT, BUT: Baylor over TCU … let’s see how the Bears respond to last week’s whuppin’ in Stillwater. (Don’t bet record: 8-5).

FIVE EASY PICKS: There are no easy picks on the final day of November. (FEP season record: 65-0).

OTHER GAMES: Nebraska over Iowa, Toledo over Akron, LSU over Arkansas, Ball State over Miami (Ohio), Central Michigan over Eastern Michigan, Ohio U. over Massachusetts, Florida Atlantic over Florida International, Central Florida over South Florida, Miami (Fla.) over Pittsburgh, Houston over SMU, Boston College over Syracuse, Vanderbilt over Wake Forest, North Carolina over Duke, West Virginia over Iowa State, Middle Tennessee over UTEP, Louisiana-Lafayette over Louisiana-Monroe, Texas-San Antonio over Louisiana Tech, Indiana over Purdue, South Alabama over Georgia State, Tennessee over Kentucky, Michigan State over Minnesota, Alabama-Birmingham over Southern Mississippi, Utah State over Wyoming, Utah over Colorado, BYU over Nevada, Rice over Tulane, Georgia over Georgia Tech, Missouri over Texas A&M, Virginia Tech over Virginia, Colorado State over Air Force, Kansas State over Kansas, Wisconsin over Penn State, Rutgers over Connecticut, San Diego State over UNLV, and Hawaii over Army.

Last week: 44-10, season: 463-87, percentage: .842.
