UC Davis sent 13 batters to the plate in a seven-run fifth inning and the Aggie baseball team pounded out a season-high 21 hits in Sunday’s 12-3 win over Hawaii at Dobbins Stadium.
With the victory, UCD (23-28, 7-14 Big West Conference) clinched the series from the Rainbow Warriors (20-30, 4-17).
For the Aggies, Tanner Bily finished 4-for-6 with a pair of runs scored, while Adam Young and Spencer Brann each finished with three hits.
The offensive onslaught was more than enough to support starter Evan Wolf (4-5), who went eight innings, allowing three runs on nine hits while striking out four without a walk.
Hawaii actually led 3-2 going into the bottom of the third, but the Aggies rallied to take the lead for good when Bily scored on an error and Nick Lynch’s sacrifice fly brought home Patterson.
UCD then opened the floodgates in the fifth with run-scoring hits from Adam Young (RBI single), Lynch (two-run double), Brian Ruhm (RBI single), Kevin Barker (RBI single) and Seth Batty (RBI single),
The Aggies host UC Santa Barbara for a season-ending three-game series beginning Thursday at 2:30 p.m.
