The UC Davis women’s tennis team has won seven consecutive matches, the last three against Big West opponents.
On Wednesday, the conference recognized that accomplishment by honoring the Aggies’ No. 1 singles player, Megan Heneghan, as the Big West Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week.
The freshman from Tustin was 2-0 in singles competition, and 1-1 in doubles to help UCD grab two of those conference wins. With another victory on Monday, over UC Irvine, the Aggies are now 8-2 overall and 3-0 in the Big West,
Last week, Heneghan cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton’s Tiffany Mai in No. 1 singles, and teamed with Kelly Chui to beat Mai and Monica Rodriguez, 8-4. Later, against Cal State Northridge, Heneghan downed Brook Doane, 6-4, 6-4.
The weekly award was Heneghan’s first of the season and the second Big West nod for a UCD player this year.
