UC Davis senior Sean Davies, who was named recently to the All-Big Sky Conference first team, added to his postseason accolades on Monday with a selection to The Sports Network All-America second team.

Davies, a 6-foot-4, 297-pound offensive guard from Westlake Village, started all 11 games for the Aggies this season, capping his career by starting all 43 games he played. This fall, he helped UCD’s rushing attack take a major leap, improving its average by 41.5 yards per game over 2011. The strong running was highlighted by a 331-yard outburst at Idaho State in October.

A team captain in 2012, Davies has been a standout both on and off the field during his Aggie career. He’s been honored three times on all-conference teams, including twice by the Great West and this season by the Big Sky, while carrying a 3.49 GPA as a political science/history double-major. Davies, who will finish his studies this quarter, has earned three Great West All-Academic honors and was UCD’s nominee for the National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award.

Davies is the first Aggie offensive lineman to receive TSN All-American recognition since guard Jonathan Compas (third team) and center Tommy Hernandez (honorable mention) picked up honors in 2008. The Big Sky led all conferences with 16 selections to the 2012 squad.
