Wanderstadt’s big day leads Reds to a huge DLL majors win

By
From page B2 | April 29, 2014 |

Kenny Wanderstadt blasted a home run, two singles and drove home four as the Reds topped the Braves, 13-3, in recent Davis Little League majors competition.

The circuit clout by Wanderstadt came an inning after the pitcher took a line drive off the chest, but stayed in the game.

Luke Carrell, Tomas Fong and Will Fehrenbacher contributed to the Braves’ offense.

In other majors-division action …

Yankees 11, Red Sox 3 — Adam Dapkewicz homered and Eliot Greve smacked two singles to pace the winners’ 10-hit attack.

Braves 12, Blue Jays 4 — Connor Malone’s first-inning round-tripper brought home Kyle Tanner and started the Braves on their way to victory.

Will Fehrenbacher later plated Kel Williams and Malone with a dinger. He also doubled — as did Cameron DeMasi and Cody Taylor.

Luke Carrell, Taylor, Jeremiah Jones, Williams, Joey Asta, Malone and DeMasi added singles.

DeMasi made a circus catch in center.

For the Jays, Mark Scheiber belted a two-run homer and double. Iain Smith doubled and Grafton Shorts singled.

Scheiber pitched well and Shorts was solid afield.
