Wandesforde-Smith inducted into Wellesley Hall of Fame

By From page B2 | June 10, 2014

One of the 10 initial inductees into the Wellesley College Athletics Hall of Fame will be Alix Wandesforde-Smith (1998), the first-ever high school All-American in field hockey at Davis High School in 1994.

She was a protégé of former DHS field hockey coach Susan Beaton, and also played basketball at Wellesley for Kathy Hagerstrom, formerly a UC Davis assistant.

Wandesforde-Smith led the Wellesley field hockey team to an appearance in the NCAA Division III Final Four in 1995.

The Hall of Fame announcement was made over the weekend by Wellesley alumna and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (’59) at a ceremony also attended by Hillary Clinton (’69).
