A crowd of more than 5,000 is expected to pack The Pavilion on Thursday night for the UC Davis men’s basketball team’s key Big West Conference matchup against first-place Long Beach State.

But if fans can’t make it to the game, there is another option — watch it on ESPN2.

For the first time in school history, a home game will be nationally televised when the action starts at 8 p.m.

The Aggies (14-14, 9-7) come into the contest having won five of their last six games to move up to sixth place in the Big West. The only blemish in that time came on Feb. 20 at Long Beach (17-11, 13-3).

Even in the loss, UCD led for the first 30 minutes of that game and was playing without second-leading scorer Ryan Sypkens, one of the best 3-point shooters in the country.

Notes: Doors open Thursday at 7 p.m. … Fans are encouraged to wear Aggie blue. … Looking to get pumped up for the game? Check out the UC Davis Aggie Anthem by the rap group LoveGang at www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuLxzW8qKCU.
