SAN JOSE (AP) — San Jose State’s David Fales, the FBS’ most accurate passer last season, threw for 225 yards and two touchdown passes Thursday night as both he and the Spartans picked up where they left off defeating Sacramento State, 24-0, for their eighth straight win.

Ezekiel Graham led Sacramento State with just 49 yards rushing. Garrett Safron completed 23-of-40 passes for 192 yards, but was intercepted twice. Mistakes plagued the Hornets, who were penalized eight times.

River Cats give fans a win

WEST SACRAMENTO — Jemile Weeks hit his fourth home run of the season, Brian Gordon earned his 22nd save and the Sacramento River Cats beat the Fresno Grizzlies, 3-2, on Fan Appreciation Night in front of a sellout crowd on Thursday night at Raley Field.

The Cats improved to 78-62, but Las Vegas’ win over Colorado Springs kept Sacramento two games behind the 51s in the PCL’s Pacific South Division with just five contests remaining in the season.

Tigers score late to beat A’s

DETROIT (AP) — Torii Hunter hit a three-run homer off of Grant Balfour with two outs in the ninth inning to lift the Detroit Tigers over the Oakland A’s on Thursday.
