The Dodgers of the Davis Junior Little League rolled through last week with a 3-0 record, scoring 40 runs in the process.

A 16-run fifth inning closed out visiting Esparto April 25. Walter Bolle went 3-for-5 with a triple, Will Arthur scored three runs, Tyler Powell walked twice, singled and score twice, and Dean Boswell was 2-for-3 with a walk and a couple of runs scored.

Winning pitcher Bailey Yarrow allowed only two hits in his innings on the mound.

In a 14-0 win Wednesday, a nine-run fourth inning closed out the Vacaville American Padres.

Bolle threw five innings, allowing but three hits and a walk — the shutout preserved thanks to Gabe Fong’s diving catch.

Davis Perez was 1-for-2 with three runs scored; Sean Mulvihill reached base twice and scored twice, as did James Richardson.

The Dodgers finished the week with a nine-inning cliffhanger, finally prevailing 7-6 over the Vacaville Central Giants. Yarrow’s hit in the final frame won it.

The locals scored single runs in the fifth through ninth innings to win. Bolle was 3-for-3, Arthur had two key walks and Perez went 2-for-4. Yarrow was 2-for-4 with two walks. Yarrow also made a circus catch in center field.

Meanwhile, the Davis Athletics were nipped 6-5 by Esparto.

Noel Parente was 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, Joaquin Manzanilla was 2-for-2 with two walks and two steals, and Jack McAdam, Brenden Tull and William Butler all had hits. McAdam’s and Tull’s were doubles.

While the game was called after six innings due to darkness, Tull and Brenden Poll pitched well for the A’s, who had three errors in the second — leading to a five-run Esparto outburst.
