The Davis Water Polo Club’s Girls 18U team went undefeated in the third round of the Cal Cup League-Northern California competition on Sunday.
Davis defeated the Nor Cal Water Polo Club from Atherton, 11-5, in its first game, then came out ahead, 11-6, against the 680 Drivers in Game 2. The wins set up a finals matchup with longtime rival, American River, who had gone through the tournament with a 33-4 goal differential.
Using early scoring from Hannah Levien, Rachel Brooks and Elsie Fullerton, the locals kept pace, then goals by Keelia Houston, Hailey Wright and Rachel Johnson helped clinch the 11-7 victory over American River. Goalie Haley Cameron was key to the win, recording over a dozen saves, and DWPC would not have been in position to capture the final without Kaitlyn Cozens and Kaitlyn Dawson.
