Lt. Col. Patrick Rose, center, and Master Sgt. Kevin Tretter present a copy of a page from UCD’s Golden Memory Book to Roberta Taylor, mother of Lt. Col. Mark Taylor, who was killed in Baghdad in 2004. Each page of the book holds the story of an Aggie who died in military service. It is kept in a case in a corner of Griffin Lounge in the MU. “Gold Star” is a term that surviving family members might use to indicate the loss of a child in war.
