What’s happening for youths

Wednesday

* A workshop on “Internet Safety for Families” is planned at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Davis Community Church, 421 D St. in downtown Davis. The presenter is Tim Valdepena, a Davis Community Church Nursery School parent and a software engineer at UC Davis. Topics to be covered include safe browsing habits, wifi access points, email, smart phones, social media (Facebook, Twitter and YouTube) and limited access with parental controls. A question-and-answer session will follow Valdepena’s presentation.

Thursday

* The Davis High School Jazz Choir Cabaret concert takes place at 7 p.m. at the Brunelle Performance Hall, 315 W. 14th St. Tickets are $10/adults, $5/students and seniors and are available at the door.

Sunday

* Join the next Children’s International Storytelling Program at International House Davis by welcoming back Vicki Crescitelli, who will perform “Tales From Around the World” at 2 p.m. at I-House, 10 College Park. Admission is free for members, $2 for individuals and $5 for families. For more information call I-House at (530) 753-5007.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

* The Davis City Council will bestow the annual Golden Heart Awards on local teens during a ceremony beginning at 7 p.m. in the Community Chambers at City Hall, 23 Russell Blvd. Golden heart awards are presented to Davis teens for exceptional community service or for overcoming obstacles. * Birch Lane Elementary School’s Montessori program hosts a presentation by Montessori pioneer Judi Bauerlein from 7 to 8 p.m. in the school’s multipurpose room, 1600 Birch Lane. All community members interested in learning more about Montessori education are invited to attend.
